The Education Media Foundation, the parent company of K-LOVE and Air Christian radio networks, broke ground on its new global headquarters in the Reams Fleming area of the Berry Farms community in south Franklin on May 27, according to the company.

The company, which is based in Rocklin, California, announced it would be moving to Franklin last May and announced it had purchased land at the Ream Flemings section of the community last December.

The new facility is slated to be finished by 2024, according to Boyle Investment Co., the developer of Berry Farms Town Center.

At the ceremony, Bill Corbin, EMF’s senior pastor and ministry leadership team member, told Franklin Mayor Ken Moore and other officials the company is excited to come Williamson County and Franklin, according to the release.

“We are honored to partner with you in the advancement of the Kingdom of God,” Corbin’s statement said. “… We’re excited to continue our journey to establish our international headquarters in Middle Tennessee, and we’re honored and humbled to be part of this community.”

EMF operates K-LOVE, a Christian radio station, as well as podcasts and Air 1. K-LOVE and Air 1 are both nationwide Christian contemporary music radio networks.

The company’s planned 170,000-square-foot, six-story office building and worship center will eventually accommodate 500 employees and include broadcast facilities and podcast and video production studios, according to the company.

EMF began as a single, nonprofit radio station in Northern California in 1982 and today owns more than 1,000 signals in all 50 states with 18 million listeners weekly, according to EMF. The company streams programming in 189 countries, according to the announcement.

Berry Farms is a 600-acre mixed-use project at the I-65/Goose Creek interchange in Franklin, which is expected to have 3 million square feet of office space, 1.8 million square feet of retail and 1,100 residential units when it is complete.
