One of my favorite books is Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyer. She describes how controlling your thoughts can literally change your life. We have the ability to change random worry, doubt, confusion and anger into intentional positive thoughts and attitudes. Our environment and daily activities also play a role in our thoughts and happiness. At BERRY FARMS, we continually strive to create and provide places to unwind, relax, form and nurture relationships, and build a life that matters.
One of these great places just opened. POLKA DOTS AND HAPPY THOUGHTS is a new gift store on the left end of the Publix buildings next to the Park. The bright and open boutique carries a great selection of gifts for men, women, and children – but they also offer much more.
Owners Chris and Stacy Chatman moved to TN from KY in 2002 after graduating from Murray State University. Stacy was a teacher in Williamson County schools for 10 years and Chris is in commercial construction. They opened the first Polka Dots and Happy Thoughts 4 years ago in Nolensville and quickly became a “destination” store for shoppers from all over Williamson County and beyond. Once you go, you make a point to go back. We are so fortunate they chose Berry Farms to open their second location. (Saves me a lot of gas!)
Stacy shared with me why they made the decision to come to Berry Farms. “We wanted to be part of Berry Farms and the south Franklin area because of the sense of community and the mixed-use component of the development. We love that residents can drop in as they are walking by or people in the office buildings can stop in during their lunch or after work. With the future hotels, it also provides a unique opportunity for visitors to experience Berry Farms and the community as well.”
Another attraction for the Chatmans was the architectural design of Berry Farms. “It makes us feel like we are on vacation strolling along instead of working. It is great to look out our windows and see residents gathering and kids playing. Our favorite thing about Berry Farms is seeing so many people out walking their dog, taking their groceries home, or enjoying the park. It reminds us of similar communities in Florida that you just don’t see in Tennessee. At Polka Dots and Happy Thoughts, we want to build upon the convenience that other businesses have already provided and continue the feeling that once you get to Berry Farms, you don’t need to leave.”
In addition to the many gift choices, they offer FREE (you don’t hear that word very often) gift wrapping, both wedding and baby registries, a rewards program, a wish list registry for your birthday and Christmas shopping convenience, monogramming on in-store items, and an area for kids to play while you shop. WHEW! “We strive to have something for everyone.”
So, what’s the “more” that Stacy, Chris, and Berry Farms’ resident and store manager Erin Nix, bring to Berry Farms? “Our business is unique because we like to focus on the relationships we build with our customers. We genuinely care for our customers and know that we do what we do because of them. One of the outreach opportunities we are most proud of is our involvement with area schools. We like to connect through the PTO and promote events together that give back to local schools.” Connect with Polka Dots on social media via Facebook and Instagram and watch for news of their Grand Opening.
“Like our name says, we want people to walk away with happy thoughts when leaving our store. Chances are that someone is getting a gift to spread happiness to others.” It’s not always easy to control our thoughts. Life happens and stress if just part of it. But at BERRY FARMS and POLKA DOTS AND HAPPY THOUGHTS, we want to help you slow down, enjoy life, and smell the flowers.
